"It shows the resilience of our city," said Mayor Stephen Mandel.2 x6 B4 g4 Z4 V1 ]& p3 H7 Q, T
The population increase will lead to roughly another $650,000 for the city in provincial grants for policing and libraries, while other grants such as the provincial Municipal Sustainability Initiative could also be affected., Z: v0 V/ K& a0 B5 P- j
Mandel said he was surprised by the increase.4 R' V: X. }2 S- T
"It's a substantial increase, but it's not going to overload our system, so it won't work," said Mandel, noting that much of the population is between the ages of 25-34. That age group does not use as many city services as others, Mandel said.
