Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. " C. x; O/ i: _ N& _

Key Responsibilities Include6 v: u, q' V l) \4 [
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
6 h; O4 T/ p8 F• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
- x) K# I' t9 n' a- T! A3 s. I• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
& t o! t, M# Z8 ^- ?9 [• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ! y- b- f6 }+ T4 I) l7 C" |5 _- {4 [. u
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
" U/ d& a. C7 f' v6 P6 |# x• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.. s4 N* C* u V ]; S
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.9 p- u; O- n9 S2 {" [+ D

The successful candidate will have:# K4 e+ o/ L3 C3 z) I, w
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting. ^! G, z' X1 M2 O# N
• Experience with children( Z0 j+ j8 Y4 ^! W4 t
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth - q# [" {* G. V/ n; d
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
! Y4 w8 n% M- [; c; q9 F* k# |4 |• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.* g& L. z) T& t0 ^
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources& @- v; Y* l( \4 K5 K# _. }
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
( D( X+ Y9 }4 L+ S• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check ) v; ?' e: j* N0 l% m( x4 v
