Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special % }$ r, ?( U& }3 L
Events and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to: q3 {- P1 A3 `- a1 Z, [; l) ?/ E& n

Duties: Special Events O' {+ a" f; H5 w* p/ ~
Plan, implement and evaluate Special Events: 9 j Q; E. n1 Y! ~
· Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee ( D. Z4 ^! R- P2 y
· Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist , v7 o. Z& O1 t4 X' z; j
with decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the
. f9 |3 [ E& t& i0 v! q2 }advertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure 3 U6 q: [, _& {- s n
set-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events.

% X% b& q; }9 D5 W' n9 ]( QAssist in developing and implementing a volunteer program: W/ Q/ T. \4 Z- H1 `' c
· Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions
8 G( S3 X( y% N! l: {$ G6 j; x, e· Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers / M! _& K0 ]" r) o
· Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers . k- n e/ s9 O; C' J# b; F6 x
· Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers
: f& X: i0 J; J" Q( m O· Complete program administration, statistics and records 7 V8 ?: v3 q8 o m" _1 ]

Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation " g6 Y* o# A; | j- u3 Z7 `
Administration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent. 9 b4 p7 ]' D4 z* E8 b* N6 z
· At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct / w0 X: W/ r; p5 C; B+ B
experience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events - ?4 I2 h2 p% M; @7 n
· Experience working with and managing volunteers
$ d4 g7 {; ^0 F· Specialized skills and training in working with seniors ; `- y& ~$ i% }: ^0 T% l
· Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events

· Security Clearance

Hours: Flexible – some evening and weekend work
