Responsibilities
& {: j7 c% }2 |# G/ f( h/ bIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. ' |2 U5 F! l5 `" ?
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ) T; l7 I8 W; E' i' W
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. ) A" Z4 O5 |" M" u) p
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ( ]8 X% q) t* N g2 A& s S6 x/ [
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
( x/ [5 _4 w+ gMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. % \" q0 q0 }& u: |" i
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
* k* b- z2 w7 r7 _ L+ yEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 6 A( {8 k) l6 K4 V5 Q
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications 3 P; Z) g. w- A6 Q8 ~( L, f. x
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
: u# F/ Y. t# lPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
% m- A( t/ m0 q6 V B5 UPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 4 H/ m9 i6 T* v; \" ?+ m
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
0 Z5 v {( U( {# \Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
1 x* p' p/ I/ R: F' e8 |" j) PProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
