Responsibilities
, G, g9 T. X& }3 y4 B& ~) HIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
3 J) }' f" y( s% PPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. # V8 m$ T2 s3 ~- V
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
$ C' S+ m% y/ G# Q7 z. D! yOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
. m/ e# w5 E, h; @ y, \2 cMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
, N0 U! ]! ~& }* |2 QMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
8 v% `! A/ E; e T2 iExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 6 Q, ?% r- w& F p" m
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Q, }1 |- I6 m7 E+ nDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
, g" n, L$ o" j8 _Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
, X2 R+ t* I' tIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. + E( _" m! u! m% T& ^7 ?! q7 m! b
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
7 n# m7 I0 j" J' D8 vPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
8 R: }! I" h. j) w" R1 S3 z, TPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
4 d+ @) A% ]1 U. l2 b# ?Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. / U, d- g/ g! \- |# |; _
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
