Responsibilities
1 N! K$ J9 }- q' OIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 8 X9 Z, d) J4 L. u
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
$ T0 d# E6 K' @6 g9 C0 q/ sAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
* W/ ^% e( A4 \1 h& XOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 1 x* q6 a+ S4 e" u. ^3 c$ a
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
4 G7 o" L8 E/ ?4 ^Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. - d5 L: z; ~( H
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
8 b, S5 e. M; x4 G7 L/ a( xEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
! c4 P+ L K6 r1 g2 g8 u- UDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 3 D' C" C: l( G- S5 X
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
: v" O1 H8 n+ k8 N$ QIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. 6 j3 v# _: A: Q- f K7 i8 U$ V
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. ; m! D0 G( P( B8 r
Qualifications
9 ]) c( p- g9 ?) z1 |A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. " v9 @( [8 J2 H; @
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. * e1 ?/ v9 o& R8 \7 O* a4 _- |+ Z
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
9 f& t" @, M) M ]! n3 M# X; l1 @Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
( X. R& g* X$ |4 W& C) TIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. % @) T9 [7 }' \9 T2 @9 ?! v8 L2 G
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
