Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

! S1 c! f* W( R5 `• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
& h3 w& ^6 A8 Q' w( q4 y# e1 u% v- [0 l1 Pthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by * g9 O, |& {! o* g7 B1 U$ U' |
the Board of Directors;
+ r6 k* k- m+ I• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations - ]& l/ n P- o% a$ E# a
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 e" } ~: Q/ ?1 X" l5 M
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; " j# }7 C; U2 F, b& y, A; i4 i
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ) x2 c, D% G" {7 q6 J' O# Q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ; x( R4 u$ n! b% t0 A
the board;
0 `5 P3 V( o* s. J. u• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; & N/ N) R! U# q2 O; t
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion & v9 n; {, H" V0 p7 R$ x
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
5 B- S1 ~" H( d0 H2 C, x9 \& K( T- L• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the

• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 5 C9 D& D) A1 f; {: l+ t
commitments;
1 ~' H+ v5 u2 |+ B! w" G+ `• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
' W3 }0 r! t* q4 H9 c$ U% S: `• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
" x3 o2 Y* J4 ?" u, F! Gselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 0 _. I' f7 t4 R' \4 L* ]
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ) P- Z) i* O) d
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
% b, O9 w8 k3 ieffectively and positively represent the association; 2 _# F% B& I7 h

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
( m7 x: @7 m5 Vthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
' x' E& g7 D: S: `, e9 f• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal & s/ j% U/ p# a+ v
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ) f! a) i* ^1 b8 I7 _
the forthcoming year; + s: e7 x" D9 k/ Z! d* k% t( _8 U- o
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 5 r# I0 `% F5 S k( ^$ l
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

Required Experience
; G* v0 V' ~2 o% e+ ?• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 5 o, m4 m1 y& K! p
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
7 J" b1 @- r2 t% n3 oabilities;
) ^7 k8 W, b, t7 z. F" V. ]• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
, l9 M7 G# u" }) K2 M6 E( _Networking and Fundraising;
- n( ~( Q8 A# S. q$ ]1 w1 L• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting - C: M2 F d+ K8 z8 k' ?

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
