' R' D& w7 G" y' y7 Rthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
  w. O4 f4 I0 P. V- z  YEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and 4 p5 J, E' r, ]8 [" M

. l5 T, D# N6 ?* G2 p( X1 EReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ( \) F, N7 C% q  U+ T" `
execution of the YWCA Strategy
& o' G! r6 R; d- p$ f  }; A- ^
( `# n5 u! n8 PSpecific responsibilities include:  1 d4 L2 \3 n0 Z& j! `: x  V  V* m

6 o* ~0 @9 o4 T•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 8 D6 k7 E: [+ A, l6 @
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
( q3 B; H9 ~/ C! vthe Board of Directors;  
$ u$ x% h; f+ e0 `7 s•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
& M) Z. K9 s" c9 n7 y8 Yincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ; P2 c; W/ S, c5 F4 K: i
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
, }1 D+ `5 q/ Z9 Q# o* _•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and - x* T2 Q/ q' i0 b& p
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
( {8 h. K# A8 f% l! f! n- e. o$ xthe board;  
: u  Y/ {9 K  u( y2 W•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
& l. ?# S% Y. n6 {# ^: G•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
7 J# L* W- G# V! [5 G7 M- Mthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
- E% Z( x! r' \•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 7 h! G6 @. _4 E' S2 v9 k
changing needs of the organization and community;
" g# E, U9 F& K! P* T: M/ q1 U•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
- ?+ P2 ], T( x2 }3 f) Icommitments; 9 F* G0 {( n/ ]: i7 |' N
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  " A' f$ e8 Y0 O. `
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ) D( V1 A, ?3 j4 W4 C
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
3 O, h$ U- g( N/ k* W# A•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 4 }' k/ J9 T, m7 e8 M- O8 u- K/ b
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to , W  r% A: }$ h9 B3 n% H
effectively and positively represent the association; ! k0 k: l/ n8 q8 D

2 x- v, _5 \8 c5 S  i  r•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
4 ?9 v3 {$ ^( _2 `0 M$ fthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
! B& P1 a- F& M•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal % F- h6 g8 i* h& g2 f# l: a, P. |
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
0 {* v" E0 F7 z' wthe forthcoming year;  & m$ B. {$ e3 V& B5 @' K& |; W& B
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
. R8 u( O- n6 H1 u. spractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ; y  k# ?' X+ E6 K; ^. ~
YWCA Canada; and
# c1 s) n/ v  ?5 y5 O$ ?4 K, p8 r4 m•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
9 C  U0 T4 G: ~( HForces.

4 x3 u) G, o9 {& E) j. eRequired Skills & Abilities 6 f2 B/ c7 K; @. {" R6 z+ N* p
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
: Q7 _3 r! O" _# |$ B' M( c•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
* d+ |4 ~/ c! P; Naround decisions, plans and actions; ( a1 X) a$ s" Y& U, [; _8 {& ~
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
/ v! T9 B- s0 P  Q8 q' O•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable ; u! [+ d% \. }0 P
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
$ J+ E7 N' {# {8 f" y•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
" u" C2 X: m' q- a9 Hsimultaneously;
. y( t5 Y/ I9 R3 H* p# A•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build - k, L# t8 u) p3 c/ l6 q# z/ R
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; # M  a( e1 \) _; u2 l0 |% N
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and , |2 M6 |4 D; G* ^1 J7 H* M+ s
•  Superior negotiation skills.

* i" V) z& ^: x; Y Required Professional Designation / Certification + G/ z$ Q0 s  h- Q$ Y
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. : x) P2 `  r3 |+ v4 B2 Q% S

6 p2 T, Q; j. d" _6 n/ q0 uRequired Experience + }6 `# r% e' }- [
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; . \; I* [$ l+ @2 x2 D
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ' {( \& N: L2 S" Y/ X5 o
abilities;
7 [/ l4 B. T# |9 u8 |  D# Y* m- r) S•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 2 `: W1 u( x6 O6 i
Networking and Fundraising;
  i- v% J$ \  ^1 P6 @  `5 M•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting , e4 N/ }# k# |, p: P( @# V
and financial statements; and
3 W3 I$ |: A- t% X0 W•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
" h* @4 k  I! ^; H" N6 {centered perspective.
