Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include: 9 P4 m e# b" X

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
# ]9 K" ^9 {& Xthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
) s# G v# D0 T* [1 hthe Board of Directors;
% N$ E- {0 w4 `8 X5 X' u: c• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
8 Z1 l8 r x) [, l9 }including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
1 I P9 K: x! g4 Z$ Tenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ! M G1 K& I- M0 n, i
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
3 R9 `' k% i% kobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
% S# J# w- B% V6 ^0 @( L; |the board;
3 O& @9 d3 e' }7 f• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
; `- r9 K( ~; w$ U) _) d4 r* ^* M• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
3 ]) x( C1 a7 i( K+ e1 w, pthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
% l Q; B! }4 u( o• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the - o9 n8 p4 k$ X. I; a
changing needs of the organization and community;
- q) b6 M( M V3 E• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 9 j" }/ m) p* }/ Q
commitments;
/ S- P |) q. }& w3 G• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 7 j) S5 o. k) r; l" l: L
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective [7 `. ^0 d- S. F" d
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; / w7 i: }( T! x) |) C5 g
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; $ ^' o& S( H y
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ) `" }3 t( x1 S% s% f
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 C5 V/ [; W& W1 r) i) s7 W
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; + a$ ?! f$ J# x
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
% @6 G6 ?% i* P- v: d8 ]6 Gperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED & z7 K' [( C5 J( Q$ u
the forthcoming year; - Z: J+ b. b( @% d
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
% ]( Y* p9 u0 G1 n% {! @practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of & X+ ]. g% o3 U3 S3 m- U
YWCA Canada; and 1 w1 F" Y) y+ P7 c! H( y. q
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task , n6 f% h v; Y5 v8 v
Forces.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
2 m. n$ G: ~2 \* v• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; . J6 Z" k- u$ ^: j2 r3 {3 ^
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
% y( q; G" x8 v3 k' Y- wabilities; 1 m2 @& i& m8 i% ]/ |
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
+ l; Y+ u7 C' x' p8 x! V B* S# {$ Z2 LNetworking and Fundraising;
