* p& w6 l! v3 B Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or 1 q+ U$ Y9 h* E. \/ N
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

1 x4 [0 ]4 U; E! c. o' ? Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
* Q+ C1 @ z6 nThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, 8 T" O) x8 ?% t
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
( O7 k6 Z( q" S- s. T7 eWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
3 r2 \2 i+ D. f$ Hneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
7 d* T; r8 b8 M7 Hnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
# I0 x2 [$ v- W9 m5 Passessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-: T/ @3 }) _2 p; ]9 M: q% }+ w" H
centered delivery model.

Understands and adheres to professional ethics related to social work.

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served.
/ `4 q! p) p0 D! `! t Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families. S8 y2 p! G6 }0 z
Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support ( F" a# o9 w: d# ?4 c& l8 t6 R
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Qualification
9 b4 r4 G. T) Q! Y! m! R % g( ]4 @- {; M: L
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
2 y: Y* v4 F- bexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
" C5 r5 f7 ^1 d* ^' X% G+ o Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family 1 B4 ]9 x3 ^3 a$ M
support needs
: \2 u* o @4 I# g5 i8 r) H( ` Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications ' W/ `* T$ I/ z! G$ z5 T, ~
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages ' A5 `" [9 r3 E1 S; i
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate ! b! b( p( _+ F1 f3 p7 j$ r& ?
insurance coverage for work

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
