FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

) ]/ f- B# n: E8 R  r• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
' Y1 ?: T) s% a. h• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
: {" {% ~: P$ E• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
) n9 `2 X% h( a• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
9 D* w5 U/ Q# _+ R. j, S* e* q• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
& V& R; J# g: e3 }( H' u9 j4 z• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
7 a$ ?) ^: Z0 N: O7 R• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

4 q, k- P1 v7 J/ i0 aSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
" k! L2 ]8 g0 E• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
; f! J( C) z  ?• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
3 Y* s4 z- W" V2 K+ q• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
0 M& S$ F* M* v! ?8 L1 b  N. K8 Q• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
  C2 f' _  S( z/ p1 k• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
: \0 R" J9 h( M3 {4 X8 Z• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
