Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
1 }, h! k' [1 M8 m# i/ m! _ Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
) @. V2 c+ X# L% I2 y Completing required paperwork.
4 b, @8 m, S6 X' U Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
: v% }/ {: v3 b/ y9 e0 T  w Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
: M* @* a: m( L$ i/ w; ] Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
) v7 d2 v4 k" M% U' U7 b( f Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:
. C$ u) M: |. w) T6 M& \& c
0 N2 G5 z  l. k; @ Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
# T' i* J: b7 d3 l1 ~: R6 S% Q! P Knowledge of community resources.
0 }' w- u+ S& ^  ^* g% L) L2 D Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
9 O- a! I' D6 B: p6 `1 N Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
% H( {/ h4 [9 s3 A3 {( GThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
4 T4 o8 U, H' o; X7 O7 Hstarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
