Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

" Z" O) @9 y6 _3 M) W Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
, t; i/ b! _' |1 L$ J Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
  g" f' X# z# b& z1 h3 \) n Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
* e( a# M) v1 x# G7 i/ t% k Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

" f1 ~( D0 v! M4 y- G Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
* o* m7 G1 J0 h- N& R1 _' Y Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
$ d' n8 R" R  R& `5 g Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
, f9 O' |( E2 s0 R7 C+ sThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
