Responsibilities
+ B0 D9 I5 X3 A. l9 a: ]; r1 ` Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
2 O: O% X& h, n Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
 Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
7 Y# Y0 E) F+ \6 f, ?# d Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
& ^) m' z  @- v8 P+ V Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

 Social work degree or diploma
) {7 g% v0 y$ E0 C9 v Current RSW designation preferred   
% Q4 g8 G8 @! Z  f7 N Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
 Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
' s3 ?7 ]# Q3 z$ [' a/ R Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
; x: ?4 B- W) k' S. s Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
: K' ^) k- u4 s& j8 _ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
, N; M$ o0 x( {4 e& D Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
