Roles and Functions
# z# i/ O6 Z0 {, QThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the x3 q: H4 \& c; Y7 ^+ q
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
4 i, D) p4 M. J8 Z1 Goperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
6 Y) |3 P6 g- xthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
v2 O$ o; U$ S2 ~4 C( X- |& aoperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
& {( h: ?& o; tboard meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
' J2 U: s. m% L/ o/ Jconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
. c' V% ?/ v2 D& M5 |employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
0 ^$ ~0 g P! Y& fstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
; o6 m7 e% ~. R8 k1 R- Fall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:& Y9 G+ ]% j. X, C
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:) @2 n( M1 M3 w2 ?- {
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
9 K' b% K# A' s3 V% Zofficers of the Coalition2 b; v$ L# O" N& x7 f( O2 }
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural" \) k9 ~& B2 V$ }
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations+ @/ d3 \2 t( y' @! K
and public institutions( k: z9 v' g9 E1 O
3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through" F2 d4 A5 p+ w1 o1 N" p
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
0 L) Q. J2 ]* l; `' M/ g' ]2 O4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community) R) S! A) M# e3 v+ g0 d1 M' |4 z
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

1 W0 @; @' n# k6 d5 X5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic
, a- m) ^8 v5 o7 mparticipation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society) K @1 f4 a0 C( L4 `$ k
7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working
/ B" Q2 s- b% \# l# \# vwith groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically: u* t; t% E6 ~* \! i
diverse backgrounds; {/ ?2 ?! q, }6 r4 Y" o3 ^

Administrative responsibilities:
! z$ B/ X0 X7 y" C/ \5 M+ G1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
" L8 N7 ^ M& N7 o# oregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of0 Y* z, ~' X# g
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the% r$ h/ [. j$ Z% c5 I2 @, V
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.
: a. E6 |4 F, F% J2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the+ M7 D1 I8 f* o4 Q

All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
0 W, j# O9 l4 t1 h5 Uimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating# }/ y& V8 a' K" D P4 y3 a
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
! L7 R9 K5 K* I1 |/ |4 a$ Z1 L* \! yThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and5 V2 T; T# V! G% d; H$ Z
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should' g) Z. `" Z( c) ]/ p
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership+ V+ ?5 B( ^% O& t3 F& b
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and) j& z% S+ s3 U
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of: }" |# L* G; T% @1 T, U
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial8 P; G" \* @' `- B( U# L4 T/ K
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all- O1 m! F6 d# h8 O3 t2 }
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
& R9 h; w' C4 _8 s$ D+ e6 ndirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

Pay Range & Terms
