that we cannot support imposing a UBB business model on wholesale Internet

$ o8 O1 F+ f* W1 f( jOur government recognizes that the Internet and digital technologies are6 x# `3 \' _! |* c+ Z
an increasingly important part of everyday life—including driving/ @2 m7 K2 P; W- @3 A2 H N
innovation, commerce and social interaction. As the government develops4 z% }& ^ G, g. k' ^
Canada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look
) B1 E4 p' J2 R% vcarefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be$ M8 j$ @" K4 s I
guided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and
c. u' G! F# ^6 H0 Binvestment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has, n" i& ^' w4 H" m+ v# ?
chosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large, S/ b% Q1 }2 E6 \& o" \! B' m# r6 x# i; @
number of Canadians. Details of the CRTC consultation are available at+ W) H5 `) D& o; x9 j% w8 e, m

) k" {4 s9 n9 r. v9 h' Q j) Rline with the best interests of Canadian consumers and encourages
