Position: Outreach Worker

$ Z" @9 D( \! L0 X# }$ P7 U2 ]Job Description
: T; N* A( Z4 T# @# J- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
4 Y- a: Q3 J; r1 l6 y0 ?- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
1 M7 r" P1 j# Q-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
% Z2 w" o3 ^# H7 Y  o- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
  a1 G4 Y1 V% O5 G1 q- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
$ l* _5 _' ~& d( t4 S- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
# v" ^: \3 x) D) T  F' W4 l- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
' [9 u, k+ @9 G- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

' j" i# Z7 `" K/ s# U1 SQualifications
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
3 m4 R8 @7 z4 c- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
4 I- i" k) q# O/ m- good interpersonal and people skills
/ \# v, B7 t/ x: h% {- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Salary
" [) V1 X7 m6 W# x6 y- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
