In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

SEDI is staffed to:

7 B# `- T4 `3 z7 E' q• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
0 k5 R, e; L1 w. C• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
, {: i6 X# l/ J0 r; }• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs 4 X6 e _% ^( Q/ I6 \! w% {
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits

Primary Responsibilities and Activities: ! X2 Z( F& K k0 [2 l+ G
• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada + Y9 `- F6 x) _4 K8 E; A
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc)
w/ }) T$ g( E3 f• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required d6 ?7 h: }; H: x
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities
, H7 V x& q8 U5 i• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
; t9 U4 q3 F$ f: |' y8 G: O1 ^) L4 K• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required 2 }; w+ {) P7 R: Z, v( @

• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies : R+ c* F8 O) e2 v
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
! e+ S4 l5 G" c9 q8 C0 q• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting
8 d' X; i1 m! @2 L0 h) H+ O) ]• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
) U% K9 j0 S3 W/ G0 f- F! {) d. V• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning

• Demonstrated group facilitation experience & E# m" a1 @( `
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
( Z* c7 R7 a E1 j8 `# Z• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training
( @' c" K' N3 B* c; r4 U• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities
o& o& k0 Z3 V5 f0 E% l• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams

• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts 4 g1 z* i/ W, \. N
• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them
' U" N+ r4 ]7 W8 S9 \, R5 h• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc 3 o4 m7 H* b$ E
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education

• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners ' [+ P, y5 u$ s% W! C! c s6 C

• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc. $ g4 n" g& E Q, w+ V1 {
• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset $ v( u) @* Y4 {; k9 W
