T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip

' M: F& U! d* g' v$ d6 uopportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
) i& Y: e9 e6 T1 l! e* m1 g3 ]interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
% W! x, }* H: m9 N. M+ [8 ~and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.( Q3 H' D5 h' t! \- a

! }- U# J, z$ m1 z: C; }' YEach session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.) E7 _% t% \7 S7 z* E) B

These activities will enable youth to:

& H9 s" L( }) n1 s+ B. ~; N9 X6 ~ Learn how to access community services and programs

Program Schedule:
P2 N9 J" @+ c4 x+ D$ y* X3 XRegular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
, n1 A, U7 \- s2 u' WSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily& b7 b7 s# s3 s; I( v
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily! o& Z# [$ }/ h: g' E1 q0 q

Who can participate?
# `, B" \3 M% |% F! K2 OAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
7 M6 [1 u: E' q+ @( _, ^3 t5 DIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

Volunteer’s Duties:* ?& D# `, L! A1 }0 w
K8 J/ X( d# |* q+ R* p% {+ S% } Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
" h# g* \) y$ ?$ U Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
* k9 K3 o$ H7 I; @3 y2 } Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities' S2 K; `: p( M& y# |0 X
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions" J- Z A2 r) q" J" e
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
/ T* m6 S) }/ t6 r2 a Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips: R4 W8 P1 n1 c: s
 Assist in program planning

Volunteer Commitment:

2 n) d( u- F7 V, q+ g On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)7 \# o5 p' H6 W& g' Z M
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer
