YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
+ U" C% U; k' _7 TAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
$ J% b# R2 V8 ?. |, Jnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
" }( i) t! C' _! m# B5 p: uthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
; W/ Q! |8 i  }; Uparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
$ f) w2 M- Q" W) PAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

! ]) Y$ \" }' a- [Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
