YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
: [$ m+ \- }8 Knine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
2 u' B) r  c* S% q6 b/ ?) uThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

, S5 l1 o' d5 W+ Tproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
! ^1 @* d) o9 U4 K2 q+ jemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
! v% {6 p, {- u9 ZThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
5 d4 v! I: i: {' H" a9 Xthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
( P  T2 {5 V' j0 {4 s" {participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
1 @  L/ O( S2 spersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
" N- }; c; W8 i) y, {Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
