Job Description:
1 |5 D7 x6 j8 ]- E• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed; n: y; L+ T! L- y
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
& m* v6 y/ h, h$ ~/ x. g/ h• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
# {. H. `6 j0 R) L- N2 L, a• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams9 l) O4 g. _( x
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
$ M5 b$ d/ D7 K. f: w5 L• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment5 x! {* Q% v6 x- Y4 F5 \6 W9 r
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools. [/ i) e' W6 K% U2 P5 ?
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
/ a& C4 R$ F% v. M, y+ n# ^• Mix paint, blend and match colors
/ e# p) s$ o: C5 q0 X• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
2 J5 J& P+ r5 `1 ~• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs- j) e; x+ _( \& }7 M# d
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation# \, i. `. l; i8 W% s
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling2 |7 N1 g8 M/ C4 w6 p' N( ]; I
Education and Experience Requirements:
% I) y8 |0 d% |) c• Completion of secondary school is required
2 t4 N U- V. a* B {• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program E# Z1 Z ^8 b$ i
or
4 S: U8 B, q% n6 VA combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
" I0 S7 a/ G( v9 N- ^4 A: r; u• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory 7 ~1 b0 X H* z [# E" x
