Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend.

A male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.5 S: `1 {" m8 r
+ g, ~, K9 _, W+ [6 s* t! A2 CPolice arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident.

( |" Q# e1 t- gA search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.

A man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge. , p, H1 d, X& I+ P
