: ~* H* M9 Q! N9 {0 ~" M% m' `
7 e% b) E! a7 y8 v0 e! h' Z9 g' T        1. I couldn't care less.
; _5 R- z) [5 o1 V* D
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: 7 J' t7 ^& F, j5 u( Z- J
) v1 B% M6 X/ k  e* L% ]
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
5 }) f4 ~- l# `2 T
0 n8 i2 e3 U5 I' t1 O# i& {: D  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
: N: F( N( f- @2 e1 x3 O1 e; [1 \' {; K9 Y7 t" W* q
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) 6 n$ n* V2 _! O8 e$ h. Z2 F5 l

/ x8 t) ~  ]% w4 g) G  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) % K8 N5 X7 @" `, H" ~  }) H, M

) K0 z! s% Z- f  I* y  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) 9 M4 s' c4 y# {$ j0 f1 y; @* Y

Yes, you do(care).
7 E' @" x' n: e% z# n8 @
9 D7 \) w% c- y! \3 C" B6 E! v8 j  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
+ O* R5 e$ B/ P/ H( G" C
  R2 v/ d5 Z! G0 A8 Q5 G  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
7 l0 r! ~1 Q& @: h$ G1 v& B5 S- U* [* v  G
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) % H- V! R& M' r$ A' k6 r( Y
: q, T* G5 R' q! g) }9 I
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. ! W# S( t- P% U  @  P! p9 M. X
' L9 Z- X: U3 D' \3 a1 o
: Y* d0 R! K3 w8 J/ b8 A* g* _& \! \0 C. T! P% I' S3 _
  I couldn't be more wrong. 7 p# K. U/ ^$ e) {) f

; u7 Q3 X/ o/ d1 Q1 S  注意:一般人都用否定句,但也有老外把肯定句与否定句互用。 " r9 ~6 J1 [$ P! s: k, U2 |6 S8 {
$ P, V3 @8 [$ f. @( d
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
1 y8 {. `. G, E' X3 r) J
' A5 c( q1 y& W9 Q3 l" m  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
3 s: ~; b* C; m! O8 X- F  E  N& R
" E1 H$ @1 n( h6 c+ v* x9 m5 t  2. No bones about it. : Z- ^" L* f( ]' \5 K4 Z$ ^

0 f. K6 K6 b: Q1 F* v4 h  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
" M7 M* k* b+ Q* g" y) Q% V' A# B2 `0 K, W  B. {
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) 8 @+ P9 x1 E5 g4 I1 b: N2 I  `) m  y
1 a- l8 }" A# V) N0 w! ^
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
6 J9 K$ E# S+ t" `
$ G# ]6 v: o5 g" X+ k5 O) F  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) 6 I* o/ }& t* x6 A
$ j) w: V' [3 m& X* K; V
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
; I% ^% u0 W) q- W  Q
7 X6 E. a7 G% C- m' I  3. take it on me! 3 F( z! `8 D" O: e4 p4 N4 H# X
+ O/ r+ V9 i6 \9 M; L7 A
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
3 Q, T1 g& ^( ~* R. L, ?  k6 v4 x! M- t2 t
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy)
& ~, c7 R- M) E0 |- y. y5 k
* X# ?9 Y5 w# t5 g  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”) 1 w: W! _( o) t' Z

! H) }& |: a2 {6 b5 j  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) (也许铅笔上刻有名字,做为宣传之用而免费。)
0 a- k! l" r( d6 H( U; x6 [
$ p. _! \( k% F# p1 L( }  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。
$ A- \+ d! o1 p" H' d+ q+ [7 O/ i" k$ G  c' B5 D& ^( L, S0 J
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) ) G" ]5 ~! N* \

8 |. }* [( ?" Y! l3 f  4. I am from Missouri. # O) V; ~+ H5 S) ^; j4 O7 _
& n: T3 W, x5 e* q% f: m
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
) e7 K) j7 c  v! o0 p( K( ?- @" C) K# `3 Z
7 q( ~; V+ o' Z& s& c/ [: \/ E2 y+ Y0 r- i. ]. u; N
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
# m/ j. `/ y. D9 x$ y! {/ E3 K% x- F2 y# w2 D" K" O" j3 ~1 q
  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
0 k. p0 a- x% f3 L
* M8 ^/ N% a9 P( A  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
7 @' S* _' h! r0 p" F; F& [5 l+ A& q' U* @2 F& y# C, o; z
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
