An ATV crash in western Manitoba has left a woman dead and a man, who was knocked into spillway, missing and presumed drowned. CBC's Nelly Gonzalez reports.

An ATV crash in western Manitoba has left a woman dead and a man, who was knocked into spillway, missing and presumed drowned.

' z) \$ [/ H' s( K, W* dAccording to RCMP, a 58-year-old woman tried to drive an ATV down an embankment by the Rivers Reservoir spillway, just before 8:30 p.m. on July 12.

She lost control of the machine and hit a 39-year-old man, who was fishing. The woman, from the town of Rivers, was pronounced dead at the scene.9 I! }5 h, L* Q$ X E8 k p4 v6 h
2 i' m; F5 Y! N ^1 CThe man, from Brandon, was knocked into the fast-moving water and disappeared. Rescue efforts failed to locate the man, who is presumed drowned.8 m( B. @/ ~3 s9 A- j( L

Search efforts and the investigation into the incident are both ongoing, RCMP said.

1 v% g" l4 d# ~( zA Brandon man is presumed drowned after he was knocked into the fast-moving waters of the Rivers Reservoir Spillway on July 12 by a woman on an ATV. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Search efforts are still underway, as well as an RCMP investigation. (Nelly Gonzalez/CBC ). r& C3 p% j# p) E& F0 t' t
The names of the man and woman are not being made public by the RCMP.

6 \' N1 j* R3 |2 q! E% c0 xRivers is located about 30 kilometres northwest of Brandon. It is near the Little Saskatchewan River, which enters the Rivers Reservoir, also known as Lake Wahtopanah.
