I Want to Make Some New Friends

Hi,
/ F: r2 L$ S) W- J4 U: H4 |My name is Fei. I am a 33 years old married female who is looking for new Chinese friends( male and female) in Edmonton. I live here for a few years but I don't really have any Chinese friend in my social circle. I feel isolated from my chinese culture. I am a painter and food lover. I also like to play board game, yoga, fishing, and discuss about different school of philosophies. My favorite one right now is Dao De Jing from Lao zi. I hope I could find some like minded people who I can hang out more often and speak my own language ( I speak both Cantonese and Mandarin, but my laptop have no chinese typing, sorry)

People here don't have much attachment to their Chinese culture either, so you didn't miss much. Especially you are a fan of Dao De Jing you should stay away from this community as people here are known of without it lol

haha, Hysoka, you seems to know a lot about the chinese people here.  I am sure I will meet some interesting people eventually if I put myself out in to the comunity

Dont be ridiculous! First of all, I am looking for friends not friends with benefit! That is why I indicated I am married in the every beginning. Second of all, I have to admit that I regret to put my message in here because now I realized  there is no people looking for friendship Only.

找朋友,我建议一个方式:以道德经为切入点,举办一个关于道德经的交流会,具体说来就是计划3个presentation,由presenter来掌握节奏,是否鼓励讨论。另外辅以美食,在家里举办就可以。通过类似的活动,朋友就出现了。每个参加的人或者带个美食,或者交些钱。

不知道为什么这么多人要将中国人说得这么差，我周围邻居认识的中国人，很多人素质都很高，在办公室也受人尊重，人也很不错，只是一开始可能有点戒心，怎么到这里好像一个蔑义词人人避而不及。别人一有什么事，都是向阴暗面想，我相信绝大部分中国人还是很不错的。

我不是要求你自己也做个演讲。
( S1 s7 G4 o2 S* A0 T0 Z% }还有，大家有兴趣，也不一定需要在某人家里聚会，外边有很多场地的。
5 V, y# Z7 Q$ y" V) y社区中心也有场地，很多搞培训(比如面向中小学生的)的地方也有场地，

7 q; v0 C7 z3 ~" c4 h也不是说必须由你来做主的呀。有兴趣的人都可能参与的呀。关键在于鼓励他人说说自己的心得。
再说了演讲和seminar也是非正式的。就跟大家在一起聊天一样。只是说是为一个共同的兴趣，不是组织他人谈恋爱，所以主持的过程中要避免让人们3322的在各说各的悄悄话。
