EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.4 C, G7 x2 @: a
3 _/ {# H* D# I" a4 N/ C. Z
The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

% ^& O" f8 ~. g% jPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.1 O+ p3 ]$ e' Q. J4 ~2 z- Q

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."& e. G7 a( r- M/ Y% ] @
