Brainstorm: Magrath MacTaggart area: Kindergarten options and struggle

O) H5 f0 e4 w- V/ eWe live in Magrath Heights and we are currently struggling with our 5-year-old daughter's to Kindergarten registration.  I wonder if there are parents in Magrath, MacTaggart area who are struggling with this issue as well. I wish to explore possibilities to group up and help each other out on making our lives easier with the half-day kindergarten program.

Anyone concerned and/or more experienced handling this situation are welcomed to join in this discussion:

To kick it off, here are my two cents.

$ E& @3 S' r/ C" @6 H5 \We need to make up our mind as to which school to register to since one kid can only send in ONE registration at a time, and it can be really hard to switch school in the middle of the year. Currently there are two options for my daughter:

Option 1: Regular program - a new school - Nellie Carlson(http://www.epsb.ca/schools/newsc ... ions/nelliecarlson/) is under construction and scheduled to open September 2016; boundaries not finalized yet.

* d  F% e* p) XIF we fall under the final boundary, what to do with the afternoons? My husband and I both work full-time 30 minutes drive from home. I maybe able to take one afternoon off in a week, part-time is not likely an option.

& U/ t& `% J6 T2 E1 o# K7 g. G& VOption 2: Mandarin Bilingual program - Parkallen School where there is a YMCA KinderCare close by, $755 a month, AND there is a wait list.
' y5 D0 Y9 `" \- b/ \7 VHonestly, I wish to send my daughter to the Mandarin Bilingual school, but again, there is the afternoon issue, YMCA is not guaranteed and expensive. I wonder if there are other parents considering this school and we could come up with a program to support each other and incorporate with Chinese elements.
