Lindsay targets rural crime

Fred Lindsay told Sun Media yesterday plans are in the works to increase the number of RCMP officers and special constables patrolling Alberta roads this year. ( S W! K5 N- m4 A" Z9 i- F
7 Z$ e# C" W, Y0 T" i0 _" ]4 OThough any moves have to be approved in the province's budget, Lindsay said he's looking at boosting the ranks of the Mounties patrolling rural Alberta, to help curb a flood of urban organized crime groups, who are moving their operations to rural areas where there is less of a police presence. # g& h2 B& K. d' s' b) o2 y
