# n' c/ `$ y3 Q1 r* Q9 dFred Lindsay told Sun Media yesterday plans are in the works to increase the number of RCMP officers and special constables patrolling Alberta roads this year. ) M* `; p$ q# l) j7 u

Though any moves have to be approved in the province's budget, Lindsay said he's looking at boosting the ranks of the Mounties patrolling rural Alberta, to help curb a flood of urban organized crime groups, who are moving their operations to rural areas where there is less of a police presence.

Chop shops, where stolen cars are stripped for parts, and marijuana grow-ops have all started to sprout up throughout rural Alberta, said Lindsay. 2 U. U' I% t( ]: Y
