A prominent cancer researcher at the University of Alberta, and his wife, are facing a number of charges related to the alleged sexual assault, and confinement, of a teenaged girl.

$ u% S/ P, |1 x$ rZhixiang Wang, 50, and his wife Xinmei Chen, 49, were arrested at Edmonton Police Service headquarters on February 14.5 j1 d3 ` Z. v. w. P0 ]4 M
7 i9 Q1 e# e- `# G3 j8 c$ CWang is facing charges of sexual contact with a minor, and sexual assault – for reported incidents dating back to between Nov. 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.# y4 P1 _+ u# }4 A8 q: _! I
8 Z2 A- m, k% }3 }4 rChen is facing a charge of unlawful confinement of a child for alleged offences from May 31, 2010 to Jan. 29, 2013.

The University of Alberta issued a statement Friday, and confirmed the couple are both employed by the U of A, but are on leave.
