U of A professor and his wife charged in alleged sexual assault of minor& U7 T8 Z+ H; x5 z

A prominent cancer researcher at the University of Alberta, and his wife, are facing a number of charges related to the alleged sexual assault, and confinement, of a teenaged girl.

Wang is facing charges of sexual contact with a minor, and sexual assault – for reported incidents dating back to between Nov. 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.

/ k/ Y8 B2 ?) T9 nChen is facing a charge of unlawful confinement of a child for alleged offences from May 31, 2010 to Jan. 29, 2013.

The University of Alberta issued a statement Friday, and confirmed the couple are both employed by the U of A, but are on leave.: M' G- o0 t$ g- y/ m4 H, x6 W; Y( ?; M

“Factors the University would take into account include whether there is a real or perceived connection between the charges and the person’s employment, and whether the person’s presence on campus posed a real or perceived danger to the university or members of its community.”- C1 t% ^!
