Position: Part-time Assistant
Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time
Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
7 n) B: `) W- G0 M. \$ o$ NEmployment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.

Job description
. F9 P1 t; h1 P; y6 l4 kStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
& e, y0 g4 t( M, uweekend hours.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
lab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
8 t* a0 ?4 K5 f& ncentre.
6 G7 V+ |3 I! D# d, WThese responsibilities include:
7 \1 r6 R5 F$ b6 K% W-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
4 e8 U+ Y0 E/ _: h-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
/ T+ X- ~# A  zfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
2 B! e3 P: k( E6 D1 _0 ?/ \-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
  x$ ^6 Z& ^/ u2 {! C; v1 pclients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
  R: u- j7 O8 U- i; B2 ]Education:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
5 i; z  m; ?. y9 b% ], E/ [( S+ l, [( I-Experience using and updating an information database.

. h) _. a: j6 r7 e+ }3 Q* @Assets:
-Experience in using MS Access.
0 V$ f9 f' Y( k, s-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
4 h; @2 c9 {( i! _+ Q) d-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
8 ~( J+ D, D  P/ }. c) u2 oAbilities:
( s' c" t8 ]5 M/ {6 f-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
