Alberta Finance, Edmonton - is seeking a highly motivated economist to join the Economics and Public
* r% N8 v+ V/ q! Q7 TFinance group. This group is responsible for providing the government’s economic forecast, which underpins
the revenue forecast for the government’s fiscal plan.

4 T5 X1 ^' a! ~2 eYour main responsibilities will be to monitor current economic developments, analyze trends and assist in
1 {* V; S4 q; t' `preparing the economic forecast for the Alberta government. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you
0 d9 X1 T5 |1 {; i" mmonitor developments within Alberta and the global economy and assess the implications for Alberta’s
economic performance and major revenues. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will enable
% `+ v4 Z1 z1 I( F' ^you to present the results of your technical analysis to a non-specialist audience.

5 _. j9 _! ^# |  K8 I8 gYou will work in a team environment and be comfortable in defending your analysis and forecasts to others in
5 F0 ]9 y% U1 {' ]$ X/ ^" Wthe group. The ability to manage numerous projects will prove valuable as you will have to meet multiple
& f! V. s$ ?1 |5 W) ?deadlines. The ability to develop or enhance forecasting models would be a definite asset.


Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Economics is preferred. Equivalencies (such as a Bachelor’s Degree and
2 S- n; ?; z5 W$ D5 u: _significant relevant work experience) will be considered. This position requires a strong grasp of economic
theory and quantitative methods, familiarity with economic research techniques and knowledge of econometric
5 r8 b7 ]" }% e! C1 }. e9 Osoftware (e.g. ESTools, Eviews, Shazam), and excellent communication skills.
