a. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that $ E/ o; l- i, d. N1 g
focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty,

This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:

Theatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to ' ~/ C2 S3 d. M4 \5 `. F% X2 L
take advantage of other internal and external advertising

literature on an ongoing basis.

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities

6 ]1 i. i/ h& U) p' }# m1 Fa. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost- " z. {# k, F* K$ D x5 V
effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the ( H: Y- B# M% u9 n+ x
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and + _6 n5 U4 H' E" A c6 y
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
* ^, O Q7 p9 A! \$ V, t0 R) }6 ithe renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited ; Z6 ? }4 T; Y1 K
to, the following:
+ n5 |3 m) f! S+ o" J9 O' L, @/ P· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
4 `# n) s3 ~( c3 p, G. cand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, : r/ ]5 h4 o$ y" U; G" L
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.
: ^+ N' K1 @+ ^; C; b. B To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at
* p b* Z8 ]* ^% y2 o+ a8 |all times, this includes the development and implementation of such ' X& p5 X6 A* E, c i
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and 7 b ^' A( |/ ]# d4 K/ l ^
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it # x; ~( l& V3 Z
is in operation or needs to be in operation.4 s* B D- z2 k: `7 F
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure O$ M% m7 T' A( X* k
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to 8 {# C6 v/ G# d
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all 9 X, ^5 ]+ E0 d5 T: Z
renters needs are met.
0 o8 W; T8 a* _& }· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills ) G. R2 O: c+ X& x% H
and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of
0 u7 E) C: ^4 o1 f3 `& V. ]; Jthe roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
7 {+ U+ U3 s4 l, q; l# Y! q+ G# Meffective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
0 F& w; e$ p7 Z) W Qappropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing

scheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance ) W( e" x6 p3 V) `! k
and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning

the appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.

+ V$ g2 ^* ]/ }positive way to the smooth operation and success of the venues. This

To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate
6 Q8 C( c3 p; L' [$ w! Eoperating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of
5 y, S! U4 m7 k, vProgramming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets 5 N4 Q3 U2 O" n
Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance & 3 j) U0 _ j6 d' h! F- z- G
Administration prior to their submission for final approval.
4 ~0 ^0 I( s) v/ u7 d· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively ( |* a) N: V) [9 N. U
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects % _& B2 P6 x( K( I6 F
the best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.
0 n$ F9 _+ t0 \' d· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and # H/ T, Z3 m# E% w: Y
administrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the

other reports as may be necessary.

costing systems to be used in connection with the determination and

and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects

5. Overall Roles and Responsibilities

needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the

is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes
6 ?, S4 \3 _/ Gin the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,

to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and

· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures

· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to
4 @4 k, X$ f9 `/ F6 g4 X3 i( edates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
' ? l6 D; k& U· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and ) E E. r! x) `
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.

particular event in the venues.

supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the : J# \& l( ?- u- s6 B
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.# k2 @) n$ x# {' x
· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular , a2 T# o% d! i3 o0 q% Z# U9 x
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.2 ^$ m# G& _3 p2 z
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the 6 r( s9 \5 E% g: l# V
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately : i3 O$ N) n& F# s
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in
) }, |* ]/ _4 q4 _9 l" zfollow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.
, w- @% p8 v' [6 r+ m To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately,
6 j- ]+ z1 l i6 m# l* q7 a9 leffectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that . |$ l4 v3 O& `
the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision

Programming and Venues.

significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of ! a3 b1 K; C( L; q
marketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as
