About background check

My case:
FN Sep.11 2006
6 U/ @' g7 @/ c% P" V7 c2 X.....(nothing from then)

3 P$ b. w8 p# f0 I9 GI sent an email to CIC buffalo yesterday inquiring about my case and got the reply:

; o8 G0 r5 |) g9 ^+ f; V"We have requested background information from other government
/ `+ ]6 c* {9 u$ Boffices(s).  Unfortunately, we cannot provide a date when the processing
of your application will be complete.  We cannot respond to requests for
) ?2 p( p0 _9 [* \the status of your application before this information is received."

Does this mean I am undergoing background check? Is it a normal BC and security background check(SBC)? Anybody has idea about how long it is gonna take? Thank you!

不用太担心，他们的回复都是同一格式，不代表一定在作背景调查。我也收到过这样的回复，后来request了一个CAIPS NOTES，发现是不知为什么我老婆得Medical Examinaion的结果他们一直没收到。现在我们就要landing了。你也可以request一个CAIPS NOTES，看看到底是怎么回事。
