Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services1 f. k: N$ ?- k1 `+ ]( o% \0 ~
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services7 B8 ^# ~+ R/ }, Y% R6 p
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies8 e* R/ \7 b! z i
- coordinate good will activities# ]; g O; D3 Z. L
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

% m1 d+ ^' F( ^2 [- k7 S- prepare and send AGM information to members
/ ^: Y: a) O, o' B* v& z- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website! g7 H. _( Z& T) a3 v( ~2 O
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
3 V( e4 @0 r; {) v5 s- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
$ E) _. X4 K" P- s% ^/ U- assist in writing proposal for ISP
' N4 V: p( [6 ]- write quarterly and final reports for ISP; X3 n: S4 D& H4 p# T6 E
- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time- x- d& [7 b p% S2 h8 Y0 L% M

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

" _6 |+ G" t/ g0 }- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education

- experience in community work and immigrant services
