Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:
+ y4 c4 P/ }+ a) w/ K# d0 w- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
# q8 t; j! h; W( e- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services( D% y( w& C4 c! X. K0 `
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
/ O5 h8 L' Y% Q* L! c5 j- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

& r/ V. Z; _) R; [8 t; k- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team: J6 ]; h0 T; z4 x2 ~( M c2 ~6 C
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
- q. \, F. r6 h- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
# B& r1 x6 z7 } S9 B7 C6 U l- experience in community work and immigrant services5 g$ H/ S4 A- v; {* N7 f
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars

- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
