Chinese New Year celebration in Chinatown this Saturday

The Lunar New Year Firecracker Parade, hosted by the Chinatown and Little Italy Business Association, takes place on Saturday.
2 k! X( h8 F1 T" g: z/ V' I- A9 q- The festival kicks off at 11:30 a.m., with an opening ceremony outside the Pacific Rim Mall at 9700 105th. Ave. From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., lion dancers, dragon dancers and traditional Chinese musicians will move north along 97th Street, visiting shops and restaurants throughout Chinatown, setting off firecrackers.

- The Money God, who bears a striking resemblance to retired city councillor Michael Phair, will be there, handing out red envelopes to lucky children.
