Two way could be costly.

bought a new car and asked them to install a starter with safety by-pass, they told me that is $650+GST, only starter, 580$+GST

If you are a risk taker and have time, you can certainly do it yourself. I have installed 7+ remote starters (plus alram system) on cars, and have not failed once. The job is not as hard as many have imagined. I generally install two-way starters, as they have better range and more information. So far I have installed Bulldog Deluxe 500 (WalMart), CompuStar (Visions), ProStart (Canadian Tire) and other brands. In my view any average person can install a remote starter by themselves. Make sure to put a anti-grinding relay as it will prevent you from accidentally grinding your flywheel while remote started. You can buy the ISO-relays at lots of electronics stores for the anti-grinding circuit. On newer cars with an engine immobilizer, you need to put a by-pass module (buy one from WalMart, requires a spare key), or buy one from Crutchfield (without a spare key).

Here is how much I paid at the following stores for two-way remote starters (material only): Bulldog Deluxe 500 at WalMart - $150, CompuStar 900FM RS+Alarm combo at Visions - $300, ProStart CT-3400TW at Canadian Tire $120, By-pass module 791 at WalMart - $30. These are all pretty good starters in my view. Somebody says that the Bulldog is a piece of junk, but I don't agree. You will need a weekend to get all wiring done, if you want to have remote lock/unlock, remote trunk, anti-grinding and immobilizer bypass. Always use shrinkable tubes and plastic tie locks for a professional job.

You will potentially save $300 to $500 of labor cost for the above two-way remote starters depending on the model of your car. Actually money is just one variable in the equation; knowing how your car works is perhaps more rewarding.

600～700左右了。之前问过，说带钥匙芯片的车bypass还有1百多。
