PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Man. - Police haven't confirmed it, but a passenger says a gruesome attack on a Greyhound bus near Portage la Prairie, Man., has left a young man stabbed to death and decapitated and dozens of passengers in shock. 4 Y' S; h1 R8 K
The RCMP and Greyhound officials will only say that a "major incident" occurred on the bus Wednesday night, but have not provided any details. 9 ^( i- \1 N; F
But a passenger who said he saw the attack said a man repeatedly stabbed a seat mate, and eventually severed his head.
0 C8 x* m9 g& S. w: h2 Q0 ^"We heard this blood-curdling scream and turned around and the guy was standing up, stabbing this guy repeatedly, like 40 or 50 times," Garnet Caton said Thursday morning from a hotel in Brandon, where he and other passengers had been taken to rest. ) n2 ]0 R" D# U2 c) C
Caton said everyone on the bus scrambled to get out, and he and the bus driver shut the door from the outside while they awaited police. + L) z3 K9 x. E/ X
Eventually, the attacker came to the front of the bus and showed them he had cut off the victim's head, Caton said.
