Duties

* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
( [# u( C: s: G2 Z. ~1 q* s6 G * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group1 s+ ]" `6 R1 W& ^( @ h0 x3 ]
* Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
- X- j8 P6 T9 [ F( j * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations* k; v) n7 I% G1 S; B) t
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
# S7 c2 B' t. ~6 a * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses' N6 P2 X q8 _2 y/ _& `0 L5 K' [
* Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
- n9 R9 f! D0 G9 \8 [# h) F * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program- M9 n! m/ n- r8 N
* Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
- t$ P3 U$ m- i0 G# B * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports

* Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly

Qualifications$ M3 o f Q, R7 C1 w# J8 `2 m
7 L! U# J+ b* D/ ~
* Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
8 t* }' g: J4 x: M' W# K * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth# W3 |( ]. p- p& V% t5 m
* Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies7 m i1 |! K: a7 ^. j
* Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
. E) s. l0 E: \ D& F8 d! q * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

* Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
