    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region3 f; _5 o; F8 L
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
4 Y2 P$ q9 j9 d+ q! ~1 W, S/ r    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
" X0 f/ n" U5 i8 o( I) p, o    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
9 _, v6 B- x+ @# p    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director" e+ v0 ]3 l5 _" A" @
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses% r8 H. u5 @! @" l
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth- L. [6 I9 N+ [+ H: m  o
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
6 ]7 F9 K/ W& L2 I7 o+ x9 n# k    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
5 P' L7 e! x' l6 ~( L7 n0 A    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports$ _& L' I0 ^9 W- t7 K
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs' i) n# E+ v9 O$ W# B! U
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
8 O8 @7 m6 [8 P! b    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities. j: p1 M: b8 i/ a
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

* R" Q& T* q+ b+ oQualifications

' d3 [2 @- P" z* \/ X* \0 Z  V% K/ C    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
9 H6 D* V5 Z. a' n8 T9 K    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth1 {% Q( [2 ^; ~2 p
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
) K: Q; Z! ~0 {% F; V    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs* d9 h- h. z! z7 U6 {
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
, n0 H9 K# G% L  ~+ m    * Fundraising skills an asset
9 l6 h4 G3 s( P1 k, L* h5 I4 l* t7 J    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills; C& v# h# R' x0 f- y
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills, T. U) c: B3 @
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
0 r) v* e3 c( [# v3 v    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills4 ?8 J, F) s! E1 i% e
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
