艾省烟草减税

加拿大癌症防治科学院说，阿尔伯达政府正在采取降低烟草税的政策，这说明该省实施的削减烟草使用的举措发挥了积极作用。最近的刚更新的财政数据表明烟草税下降了6%，相当于5000万加币。
   加拿大癌症防治研究院的Angeline Webb说，烟草削减法案不允许在所有的公共场所和工作地点吸烟，这一法案的切实执行取得了令人满意的效果。

The Alberta government, already suffering from declining oil revenue, is now facing a dip in tobacco revenue.

Figures from the quarterly fiscal update show a six percent drop sucking away $50 million dollars from initial budget projections.

8 U$ t; C1 v8 o/ KAngeline Webb, a Cancer Control Analyst for the Canadian Cancer Society, says "it appears that the Tobacco Reduction Act is having the desired effect."

' W1 Z4 h; d0 L, H( wMeanwhile the final phase of the Act goes into effect on January 1st.

That's when smokers will no longer be able to purchase their fix at post-secondary institutions along with businesses containing a pharmacy, and that includes supermarkets.

But the Campaign for a Smoke-Free Alberta is still calling for a two-dollar per pack tax increase to make smoking even less affordable.
