* X9 X! t1 O4 @4 S( w4 }FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. - Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU) and two of its contractors are headed to court next month after being charged with dumping partially-treated sewage from two work camps into a northern Alberta river.

/ h, F- C+ c+ d4 d! uThe contractors charged are the Compass Group of Canada, which ran the camps, and Rodney McCabe, whose now-defunct company operated the two wastewater plants.7 O* s$ _$ _/ M, F. i
2 f3 e2 O' g4 V7 E' ^9 q& mThe charges laid last year under Alberta's Environmental Protection Act include failing to properly treat wastewater and providing false or misleading information to the environment ministry.! K7 R& R, }( G4 I( m* g
% _- e+ D4 ^- GEnvironment Minister Rob Renner says the charges were laid after a routine audit found problems with the sewage discharge into the Athabasca River.% T# [& o8 h( ^( P, C
1 }8 u2 M+ t/ \1 M6 r3 @6 @McCabe and Compass are refusing comment, but a Suncor spokesman says the sewage likely had very little impact on the water quality in the river.
