A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.5 P8 M2 E# b( d. _, Q
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
' g3 P0 [1 @, r4 x! k, ^knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
0 v5 F9 a% s- J9 dThe program includes the following elements:
, _$ K0 k N$ h3 }• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
0 L3 D. L: u! |+ a" j• Standard Child Care First Aid$ E" W& u( y/ R9 f
• WHMIS
* n0 P$ J, L; c. }! H4 i• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
; p3 ~6 r" K0 ^ L6 w% ^1 I( `• Components to improve communication skills* H' { o! P" ^/ D( ^; }- l6 z
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
7 u5 D( Q. p1 K$ N• Practicum Placements
- J- u6 [& M' h- a3 y# NEligibility Criteria
% {( l0 D/ c5 @& u• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
) D% o& q, g; aof Canada
. R6 |- ^7 J5 Y/ F" Y0 d• have a Social Insurance Number
: |6 G; O R) }9 f' F3 |• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check% y: e0 M, Z/ i. B# E5 {1 ^# b
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent0 ~2 L5 M/ v3 q$ g
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
: A3 `( Q2 q3 V% z5 L- mthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
1 X4 [: ]7 F! R- h) ~6 Q• be unemployed or underemployed.. K8 i: ~0 l# ^$ H
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course9 O8 U& g) @$ u3 X, _ J4 P
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
