Duties

( T5 G% f- M+ S0 s* o: U * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
, x: @6 `1 K. V' d K5 h9 _ * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis! I# a3 s5 A, Z! Y, S
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance9 H9 t- H s6 c8 X
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students . m) c: A: B: |/ f
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
" B& `: M! z) _; B5 S" N; K * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
0 L# ?, w% F' N& E L/ m * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
