Duties

4 Y2 a; z& R( I * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications* Q% S9 m8 H( k! S4 D+ M$ p& b! @
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis+ y9 J# b5 H& ^
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance3 v: U' x& s2 \
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students - Q( K1 b. }& _# Y. i5 K
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies( \2 \ F5 G& z) F$ m# q. y
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs( H: @5 Q) r7 C* X! Z
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment- ?7 Q0 p7 g4 V

Qualifications

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
