FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
- X) X. ]7 d! ^9 L: A1 awhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
( n1 S- L! s: m- b1 I- Femerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
+ U3 a5 c" R2 Hand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
- Y/ B* K9 s2 X. F/ Pscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
' z5 t1 q+ Z, P  \! V' ^2 U  OAlberta.

- \+ ]. s) B- \3 F' EJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
" V. z5 T& D$ B' CDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

! N0 k/ f* \+ ?! }Duties:
+ C& p% u- b5 J- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
! d2 R2 B: S& w9 [+ l7 Y- Assist with equipment maintenance
% u7 X& x, s& N6 ^! z9 R- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
7 ^! |; j# q2 C& k- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
6 F9 t! V- s4 {. M/ zProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- ?; }9 d4 n) S8 _9 x( t, u. y- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

( Z& T$ O8 T3 j7 K3 s2 hQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
$ X3 l3 B- m" \! H0 O+ v. [9 F- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
$ l: ^, J! [! x" Y- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
; W1 _% s8 U6 I- Strong team player abilities
9 L2 u6 M1 R& K, K: Y  _, _) m! i4 F- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
