FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
: O! ^$ d, D' h$ b$ W* q5 ^4 D2 awhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
X t8 T3 c2 V% p2 y& L& jartists from Northern Alberta.

* T D1 J, H9 k. i; vFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ; k8 Q9 \3 A# Z9 ~
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video + g5 e2 A7 C" Y# I4 f3 K" p
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
! X1 E5 G$ F4 p( [4 ]4 Z0 o$ n% @resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
, R/ T9 T* k$ p6 K8 l/ tscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern , p2 C0 W- ~/ j& _

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
7 Y/ x5 w9 N' U: S0 D: j+ [Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by ; q+ O+ U" t$ `* y$ \( N: }
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 8 C2 f* ?2 l4 j
4 i6 ]. J' S2 L4 P9 j i7 t, M6 }Duties:
" I2 y3 S- }1 v- Assist with research on acquisition grants ( h' u m& m) f c. m d
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
5 N7 W% } P& K; ~- Assist with equipment maintenance |/ l) W4 Y: p/ g4 Y/ }1 m
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
" M" E3 T% F; f, w* j8 V" a1 R- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff : c3 M$ F" p# c! R/ i7 Q
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-9 T( d- c. [8 K, U3 J8 {8 x( s. y, t0 V
secondary training

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
! d" Y2 y# A" E! l' Z( C- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts * w3 d0 c+ v) b: {2 k4 T
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment " P; ^- a/ \8 s2 Q6 i9 J
- Advance organizational and research skills ( M& {1 n0 p1 X# Y) [
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
, m |5 i& f0 g4 O- w; m- Strong team player abilities
