FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from

and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a $ l# ^+ y9 Q( Q6 S7 {/ J/ z
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and z5 b9 a6 G8 z
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

2 ^) f, G/ j: Z& @" mJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
% s% p. Q3 V9 S1 zDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
3 @7 q" E7 d; |( _& e0 `6 Dassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

7 F S8 S* D" v; T" o! W P- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- [& u, r1 u5 C" k$ ^" g- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
: @& U+ c) m$ s- K' {- Assist with equipment maintenance . m" \8 C* E ]* l7 Z
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
! S$ O. F" s( l% _+ e- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff % c8 K8 O# |" G E2 Q, u
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
5 C+ C( m6 \3 d- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week ! o& d9 M/ Q; n. w8 h5 {

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
( O% D# p) |# x$ N9 C- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts & D! @* V6 J3 ^" a2 o4 A
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
+ v* n/ l0 `- E N- Advance organizational and research skills 8 a% u3 t6 [0 M) c2 v% ?
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 2 t4 @+ I, f! |0 J: c$ V' q
