On May 1, 2002 it became mandatory in Alberta for all children under the age of
5 {. i3 k& V4 f- W5 ^9 ~0 q18 to wear approved bicycle helmets when cycling.

4 I  [; r* j# d7 `  W1 n0 ZWe are aware that enforcement agencies will be conducting helmet checks this
summer. The fine is $69.00, which is substantially higher than the cost of a
helmet.
