動人心弦的小男孩 (Little Boy Touches Hearts)

I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back.2 }7 }& s' b8 E& B
我在「塔杰」商店閒逛時,看到收銀員將一些錢退還給小男孩。$ q1 @9 e5 W6 k% |: G2 Y; n4 W

$ L3 C8 K5 m8 ]1 SThe boy couldn ' t have been more than 5 or 6 years old.# B/ b6 A2 W/ ~6 i" Y

這男孩不過5、6歲。* L- g  k  o) B2 x) Q

& j3 O- E! N3 ^/ r! ?0 ^
1 w; a6 o% V# v5 }+ {* iThe Cashier said, ' I ' m sorry, but you don ' t have enough money to buy this doll. '- J  E6 H$ \& w# D+ ~' |! z
收銀員說:『抱歉!你買這娃娃的錢不夠。』

3 S" N8 T2 u# Q" {Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ' ' Granny,1 \2 E: W  A2 u; `
are you sure I don ' t have enough money? ' '- G* [* R! J: v' E" C! Y
小男孩轉向他旁邊的老婦人:  h8 @) I" r( z( O/ e5 s
% d7 O, t" q' u8 M9 [- [. g$ B+ s
「奶奶!妳也認為我的錢不 嗎?」

The old lady replied: ' ' You know that you don ' t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear. ' '9 E  I* f3 d: p9 ?' J4 R; n0 F2 n
老婦人回道:「親愛的!你知道買這個娃娃的錢是不夠的。」
* M( w0 Y) p1 W: j! A5 a 5 t. V) N- x1 [( \( r" v+ g& f
) @( X& \& B+ |( _
Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to.2 Y, \+ m7 F7 {% b

'It ' s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.

She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her. '

I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry.  e' F$ M/ \! l! m$ D+ g3 T. N

But he replied to me sadly. ' No, Santa Claus can ' t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there. '

) i, ]9 t0 A* f* ?  q/ JHis eyes were so sad while saying this. ' My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister. ' '

' @; p4 A8 T2 H5 ~6 `5 G8 S+ K/ {The little boy looked up at me and said: ' I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall. '; n# f" X% W8 y2 D, q

# ?# w$ p5 l) |" U! [/ tThen he showed me a very nice photo of himself. He was laughing. He then told me ' I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won ' t forget me. '

& S; H6 D3 d, g- _6 {( _8 A'OK ' he said, ' I hope I do have enough. ' I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.
# q6 a) r0 ^4 r* }$ }5 ?! O『好呀!』他說『我希望有足夠的錢』。沒讓他看見,我塞了一些錢到他的錢包中,我們開始數錢。買娃娃的錢足 了,甚之還有剩餘呢。2 ]2 Z% r7 f4 }  l/ `* R

$ n! o) N% p- j9 hThe little boy said: ' Thank you God for giving me enough money! '5 ~, k9 ]9 P9 b# f9 A3 ^
小男孩說:『謝謝上帝給了我足 的錢!』3 v$ H! r  Z* A: L  `

" o* w# g4 j6 S  x  u6 hThen he looked at me and added, ' I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me! ' '

" a0 v' H' [7 |$ |A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket.( P' g% D7 l6 N- f6 u5 H: Q( ?

; p/ q5 G" m0 s* C. v2 U. {" o5 h( ZI finished my shopping in a totally different state of mind from when I started.! a( Q- @2 q: g& `$ d4 h# w: g2 f

5 M2 i0 I: J% }6 H' B7 Y) SI couldn ' t get the little boy out of my mind.' @. O. s2 r. g1 n5 ^

Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young& Q) w- Y7 l9 \" B' c
woman and a little girl.7 P9 _9 g6 T5 l  g/ V
我想起兩天前當地報紙的一篇文章,提及一位醉酒卡車司機,撞上了一輛載著年輕少婦和一個小女孩的汽車。, w' j4 H% P+ B' P8 s0 T  k# A

% v2 I7 G$ h, |9 U! MThe little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical
% [) M1 ^; |& @: O$ {state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the
# I8 S2 a7 J1 W; V" tlife-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.
  y8 P! A6 ~$ A小女孩當場死亡,母親呈現彌留狀態。 這個家庭必須決定是否要拔出維持生命機器的插管

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.
3 k4 J/ F$ d+ v+ z; a6 b- F碰到小男孩的二天之後,我看了報紙年輕少婦過世了。
# w% o1 L( ?4 }+ B9 z
( H& d9 O5 `- V' u8 F: d8 T% @8 {7 pI couldn ' t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.
* o, K6 v' D: O5 ]6 V我不自主的買了一束白玫瑰,來到喪家,年輕少婦的遺體在她埋葬前讓人瞻仰與最後許願。! g/ H  p3 U) p4 e/ |- L/ F9 c7 U
  A5 U/ `5 U) u' ^/ a! p
She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.9 R9 d; B* i9 [" x# L2 h

I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is. {; Q5 S2 ?2 M' y
still, to this day, hard to imagine.
