動人心弦的小男孩 (Little Boy Touches Hearts)

I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back.
% m( A2 ~/ z. `. c# a/ a0 V我在「塔杰」商店閒逛時,看到收銀員將一些錢退還給小男孩。

The boy couldn ' t have been more than 5 or 6 years old.# f% J& u5 ^, j+ r' F0 ?* s/ [

( V/ {) [& B( ~% t  p這男孩不過5、6歲。

The Cashier said, ' I ' m sorry, but you don ' t have enough money to buy this doll. '$ s# H- r0 H0 c

Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ' ' Granny,
# \8 r, [( B0 xare you sure I don ' t have enough money? ' '5 O8 _0 {, S/ h1 H* b! n( C1 |
小男孩轉向他旁邊的老婦人:

7 s! n# m$ }4 x& |9 V! U3 MThe old lady replied: ' ' You know that you don ' t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear. ' '
. x% H; M9 T7 _6 S/ J' x老婦人回道:「親愛的!你知道買這個娃娃的錢是不夠的。」
! f/ t5 I9 R, |  E $ N; b5 c5 X* ]7 f! E. P

2 E: D9 o/ h( h5 ~8 |, u! eThen she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly.

'It ' s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.

But he replied to me sadly. ' No, Santa Claus can ' t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there. '* @/ a( [% H  h- a. ]( q1 n

Then he showed me a very nice photo of himself. He was laughing. He then told me ' I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won ' t forget me. '

'OK ' he said, ' I hope I do have enough. ' I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.& c6 f7 v0 l5 o% e- c( j9 U
『好呀!』他說『我希望有足夠的錢』。沒讓他看見,我塞了一些錢到他的錢包中,我們開始數錢。買娃娃的錢足 了,甚之還有剩餘呢。* g1 N+ r$ T; G% B" d( b

  V- M2 G% e  O/ l, ~; S' nThe little boy said: ' Thank you God for giving me enough money! '

* _5 e3 r1 C6 X: ^+ y% [- xThen he looked at me and added, ' I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me! ' ': r+ e% {+ {$ ]

I finished my shopping in a totally different state of mind from when I started.

! K) U1 [0 e+ D2 r; Z) NThen I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young$ O# j- S9 T5 X1 \; s; c
woman and a little girl.; O/ i. c$ L5 ^& Q
我想起兩天前當地報紙的一篇文章,提及一位醉酒卡車司機,撞上了一輛載著年輕少婦和一個小女孩的汽車。$ }' X0 ?4 z+ M: [

state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the
8 M% o: d, n. F6 o3 Jlife-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.- w5 I# D7 [" E0 X$ {- v

I couldn ' t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.1 _% A! P  v0 s* z; Q7 k& K
我不自主的買了一束白玫瑰,來到喪家,年輕少婦的遺體在她埋葬前讓人瞻仰與最後許願。( H( r+ w$ v$ D% b6 }# p2 @: R
, c" u* n- d  J* \. z, k
She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.6 Y, x  |5 S/ G  J, O2 z5 ]

: C: f; m1 h% [  ^7 F& BI left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is' [/ m  b0 ~# J- M3 T
still, to this day, hard to imagine.
& g) H: Z- b9 A9 l% E+ R7 _我離開了這裡,眼淚奪眶而出,覺得我的人生已經永遠改變了。至今,小男孩對他母親和妹妹的愛,仍然難以想像。

And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

对自己负责。对别人负责,对社会负责,请勿酒后驾车。因为这个小男孩有可能成为你家的孩子。
