Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. 2 S9 h2 f% D* h2 E7 D

! J# j7 B j# N; N/ S4 KKey Responsibilities Include
9 B% g: F" Q; X$ m; g4 a; u0 U) lActivity Planning and Daily Activity
Z2 D) Z5 o1 T* j8 b+ E# g9 Q• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
& o4 P- X9 k: t0 K; N0 @4 k• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
; d, L+ v l2 q x( g% L+ |/ _0 a• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, * B1 d" M$ {* [3 Z, t
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants. W2 T6 O, {5 a# n- H3 ]" b, b
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
% [! @0 w s0 Y, |: O! `/ G' @- O• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.' g/ H, W% [; k. P

The successful candidate will have:5 B9 q4 J! f' S1 r; ^7 Y) {. R3 h
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting3 [! _9 i8 s, l: u" {
• Experience with children
0 _. K: ?4 c5 `% \, t• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
* L: j+ u& l( ]! W# s* C* q• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
: j" m" r" f+ F9 J• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.1 r3 i$ x# M8 B' g1 c
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources8 h3 J* Z6 |* p j0 R. h1 O# Z
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check & v$ t- o6 j( a i5 \6 |5 C- T
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
