You can get a Home Equity Line of credit(HELOC) if you do have any plan to purchase anything else or a second house.

7 h4 J4 j! j. H/ G7 O( {The bank will give you a letter. You need this letter to clear your land title. My lawyer did that for me, so I am not exactly sure where he did it, maybe city of Edmonton. BTW, you don't need a lawyer to do it. You can do it yourself.

谢谢4，6，7 楼的回复， 我确实收到了一封银行的信， 信上说“We are pleased to advise the registration of the discharge for the above mentioned HELOC/Mortgage has been forwarded to Land Title for Release of our Interest. Should you wish to obtain an updated copy of title, please contact your local Registry Agent in 3 to 6 weeks." 我还需要去政府的land title office办手续吗？是不是银行已经办完了？

去银行直接要求discharge the interest from the title，银行会通过自己的渠道做，你会收到更新后的title。

我的理解是：银行已经向land title office发出release interest的文件，land title office收到后会在系统里更新，但政府不会主动寄证书给屋主（但系统已经显示正确）。若屋主想得到那张粉红色的land title证书，还是需要去land title office那里付很少手续费打印出来。
1 k0 @# D! R. f7 P或者是各家银行不同，有的银行可以直接把新证书也代办了寄给屋主？
建议楼主去电自己银行咨询是否会把证书也寄来？或者去电land title office咨询权威的答复。

+ I% K" |% l( b8 U记得肥皂剧everybody loves Raymond里面一集，Raymond的老爹老妈终于把mortgage给付清了，专门开了一个party庆祝，他老爹无比夸张地拿出了银行的贷款文件，用打火机把它给烧了。那份如释重负的心情，大概每个有mortgage的人都有体会吧。
