Duties. X' p; {8 g: j
* }$ `% H+ c, i
* Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
: ^. Q! u/ s2 v: Z * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr6 O/ [9 {5 \; G8 R6 n5 q/ o
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps9 P0 a0 y w4 Y! p
* Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations' V2 c3 G2 c- u. L& ]: H1 F
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations/ h* ~) d6 A/ [6 `6 Y2 m

Qualifications- B- F) m4 r2 [: r8 W5 Z% p
6 h9 T9 @0 Y7 T$ }7 x * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred5 _5 E- k& p4 ?" \5 V0 H; V
* Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation9 \" h d) D/ C- m: ]/ p
* Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers* q( X& c4 c+ V
* WHMIS training1 s; h3 s6 A! l+ ^( t# r0 u
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
