Duties

* Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
( |; `3 O% m( t" S: X% | * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr
' m+ B# M2 r) Z1 H* M) ^9 Z6 h$ D * Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps# n7 c- b, U4 M7 @
* Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations# _ \$ c9 s6 |! H! [+ k, |
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations* s0 s, L7 o9 H

Qualifications- B$ `: k- O2 X+ G, {& P3 p2 s

* Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred4 ^# i4 E o; ]) P, s1 R e0 |: h
* Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation0 a+ {7 U, v, \% m8 @+ f! V! m8 X
* Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers5 @ i- a% V! a. g: T
* WHMIS training0 t" n# {( F" X. O8 K
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
