This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
# `& M' J0 O3 r7 SEligibility Criteria
, c: R8 u. G4 z% H ^) }$ ~All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
, f* y' j0 u0 U2 t+ s3 \/ V•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
7 M4 m \7 K* v* B/ e7 G* g- E3 q•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
) K1 ]6 t- P# _0 L1 d" r•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English
- m/ V( |' C& Q/ s& ~6 P, o" \•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada + O1 ?3 [- J* _ R. l3 ^
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
) {3 _6 |! N! l+ k! H5 m•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
: G) s! |$ h4 l•Be eligible to work in Canada
& I. y& C, Q8 N$ H' }•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop: {9 K; A0 P) A% j
•Lack access to professional networks
8 S* t% C/ X) A5 e6 g•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning

. \& L# z1 I! V. R- H, V% LThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.! |! A9 x8 K* X: S# G
