3 S$ b0 B4 o8 v0 I9 q, H3 g
- X3 n( Q8 M& P$ }
! l: J  d% a  s# T6 v' T' E4 h5 o
2 q' _& W. `- _2 F: `
M: I think I just bombed my history test. I don't think I'm going to pass.
9 P3 R) [0 f# I# G: ]& m" R; y; z5 `! h6 L/ r
+ p1 J+ _8 H$ }. k7 _* k6 x

9 Q# ^# w' }, V2 g2 |' B" OM: No, I said I bombed my test, that means I did very poorly, and probably will get a very low mark.
7 n7 J* O, T9 M/ R* x  O, w" y# \8 R
" [5 H5 t* c3 Y& q" I. H6 B  Z+ E! G* `) }
M: Well, sometimes we might say a movie or a play "bombed". That means that no one wanted to see it, and it probably lost a lot of money.- d: I/ B$ R' F# L4 u/ X

The movie I saw last week bombed"?  L- F: D& y5 D, n9 g

  h& B( Z# j: L2 Y$ JM: Sounds like it bombed to me. Remember the play we went to a few weeks ago? The actors were terrible!6 z2 M; Z+ l2 D7 L

That play really bombed! }% N: T" e6 Y

( E: s9 T: J8 O* j5 S% A( U( tM: Absolutely! Hey listen, Li Hua, can we please change the subject? I don't want to think about failure right now. What would you like to eat? It's my treat.
- M! v6 K5 p" q+ D
. W- M7 n) h!
! x8 \2 _- ~+ a; y7 ]
M: Please! Don't mention tests!  b# ]. D# D6 M) n
' R! k. r. @' ^; @0 X
$ N7 G. y! Z( D6 k1 ^% I7 c0 t* A
M: Ah, here's my hamburger. Ack! They messed up my order! There are onions on this burger!
$ l/ x: A, D! ^
# L' D  @/ u8 A) s% @- X% N6 M6 D- U4 b
M: I told them not to put onions on my burger, but they forgot. Therefore I said that they "messed up my order". I can also just say "they messed up."
4 v" F2 X& K5 T  l: H" l: r# e/ h2 @1 G, j! C. v& X7 G
所以,to mess up就是做错了事,对吗?' s1 H/ X9 M9 v# {. O8 F1 Q: @0 y

/ p  J0 ~( T' S( u9 C; F! aM: That's right. Also, "to mess up something" can mean to break or damage something.. `: ^7 f/ S0 h. {0 d8 [

+ B8 |- x' N0 Z' S; w8 }/ gL: 噢,to mess up something还可以指把什么东西弄坏了。 She messed up my bike"?7 Z3 M* t. k0 }5 ?  T6 _

5 V( J* G1 W2 h1 WM: Sure! Hey, you'd better tell her to buy you a new chain.
  q) b/ \2 G+ Z7 {
: S1 O7 Z; Y% ?4 Z5 ?3 w" x
3 j/ \1 l# o* y' |) _" O0 ]. w$ D
M: What? She broke your bicycle, and she's angry at you? That's just wrong!
  `2 c6 ~8 n8 G+ A+ w8 i& p
% l+ M$ b- K% U4 ^2 Y! N4 F: p0 z7 S) \: g0 g
M: She messed up the TV she borrowed? You don't need a roommate like her.
4 o* e: W1 H2 u" N( ~3 w
( H' ^1 n2 ]; h+ V6 C' N0 {( c7 }+ t5 O: y# _
M: Well, I'm really out of luck today. I bombed my test, they messed up my burger, and now I have to repair your bike!
" h9 r- X* N! l5 ?# b) d
, o, [. |! E2 N9 C) M5 C0 z) B9 O; z6 J+ l( k
M: Ok, ok!* `+ v; s) E( v1 D! A; n* ^

( w4 }& ^2 e9 p- O+ T8 D今天李华学到两个常用语,一个是:to bomb,另一个是:to mess up。 9 c' K% O' @6 a7 Z

0 n# h8 Y! H' y# cYou screwed it up。
" G% }, y2 g3 I+ v" Y3 ~$ J( l- k7 @, q' s: o1 k7 Q
screw ? up ? 如果他们对我说,You messed it up,我大概不会这么郁闷。
