In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. + C& @3 r. o/ s! P) r( N$ m
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
. x" b2 w* J2 D+ G. v" qAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 1 Z) N G; s8 t
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
5 V8 ]2 N. S; b7 J: ^" b4 ?& n. ]Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. ) n3 L& j, y% K2 C
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
& X8 L( i! T* MExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. - h3 i( G" F+ q4 B' C4 |- I
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
/ D" w0 ^0 t/ ^/ ?Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. * H4 m" x6 l5 S0 C
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. . `; G; `; T- y8 f$ o
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications
' q0 Y; f3 h8 F. f/ A4 |9 OA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 5 n% ?; _2 _* u4 m8 }
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
; Y, ?& I) b n" [5 m$ wPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
8 ?- Z1 ~! }2 P3 _7 OPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. & V$ l# w6 e9 R3 n
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
8 R, ~: Y6 _# o6 jProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
