Responsibilities 9 Z* n s+ c- R" u4 H3 r
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
; ^7 F7 T, {1 O, QPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
- T6 W# s+ L% u: fAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. . {: c* n+ k. W
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 7 i3 K5 l8 l" ^
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
8 G3 i1 |0 [( W! XMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
* i0 P# z+ \' g* |Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 8 }* `5 x0 _7 L
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. ( w7 ^) J2 y! _5 X) d
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. - M" g' ?* s! D# t
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
, o$ {4 e( I1 T. SIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. % {% X2 N! f4 ` i
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 0 f2 [6 U6 Z4 r; L+ W9 \% J' i' o
Qualifications
! |5 v0 ]3 H l1 b1 ? g2 R4 Q$ Z; p2 kA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
% l$ B k* F8 [& d( NPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 0 R) n3 C% J4 j
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 7 w/ K% ?# b/ w/ Z0 y9 }
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
+ |, v' {/ w8 L3 t& MIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 4 `; \( j% N8 K ]3 X" A! l
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
