You can get registered for the exam online. They will mail you the textbooks. You may need several months to prepare for it. But some people prefer Schweser study note (http://www.schweser.com/cfa/) to prepare for the exam. You may be able to buy these notes much cheaper from china.

* i) \" ~3 n0 Q6 E3 s1 e* Y$ NDon't feel scared at the beginning. The level I and II exams are all Multiple choice questions (one out of 3 choices), should be easier for us.

The notes change very little from year to year. my friend used 2004 notes and passed the 2009 level I. Amazing? :)

6 I  U4 |; z/ KAnd how many years does it take to pass? I heard at least 7 years? Plus you need 4 years' related working experience to become qualified for the final certificate.

Program enrollment  is $400 and exam registration is $620 each for 3 levels

1 N2 i3 B' G8 `2 SThe minimum time to pass the three level exams is of course three years as CFA institute only offer exam almost once a year. But you have to finish the level iii exam within 7 years, otherwise, they delete your record, and you have to restart from level i again. many people simply pass level i or ii, and use that as a stepping stone on their resume. once they get a job offer, they may not pursue the program any more.

You guys may not know that there are scholarships offered by CFA Institute or your local CFA society (Edmonton Soceity):
