The Organization: Established in 1992, Islamic Family and Social Services Association (IFSSA) is a registered charitable organization dedicated to provide social services to the community within an Islamic context. Some of IFSSA’s services include a food and clothing bank, social development programs for youth and parents, counselling, settlement assistance for immigrants, and connecting individuals in need to a variety of other local support agencies. 4 A4 P! " s0 U6 z% t; N2 s* dProgram Description: Islamic Family and Social Services Association is hiring an outreach worker to work within the Fostering Healthy Families Program. The program offers services to victims of family violence & domestic abuse in the following capacity: Outreach Work; Culturally Sensitive Counselling; Support Groups for women; Transportation; Conflict Management; Essential Needs for Victims; Resource Referrals; Risk Management/Safety Planning.* y; n* W" v$ D _/ V! H+ p

The Job: As the outreach worker/family support worker you would be responsible to report to the Program Coordinator. Main responsibilities would include meeting with victims of family violence/domestic abuse, setting up supports through partnering and other community agencies in regards to housing, legal, financial, educational supports. Counselling around conflict management, healthy relationships, parenting skills, risk & safety planning + other issues related to family violence/domestic abuse would be a large part of your role. You would be responsible for aiding in client transport at times. Case management is also an important role along with being comfortable in running groups based on family violence curriculum used in the program

: Z+ L; A( L3 l9 O9 aQualifications: A diploma or degree in the human services field (social work, psychology, child/youth care) with a minimum of 1 year working directly with families in crisis. A recent criminal record check along with a child welfare clearance is required. Must have a vehicle/proof of one million liability on your vehicle insurance.

Required Skills: Knowledge of community resources; Ability to support women/families through their current situations; Facilitation skills; Fluent in MS Excel/Word; Professionalism & comfort in working with the public; Able to work with minimal supervision; Fluency in English and one other language (Farsi, Arabic, Urdu, French, Somali etc); Conflict management skills & decision making skills; Basic Counselling skills. $ W7 `& t8 @7 t% @
