Responsibilities

& o5 l+ L- M8 r3 Q, ]5 {Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 2 i6 ^/ M9 r9 p& L0 S! \
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
* W: c' I3 V' |5 w+ wthe Board of Directors;
1 b0 Z* C6 d, G- }3 {! O• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ! O# m3 z8 ~ J0 D
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to

• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
; B% I5 u, l+ O1 j( J. l" jobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
: C( @, u" o( Z, M/ i3 i) Lthe board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ j" {9 I7 A" [/ Y/ w7 D- T: i3 vthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; o; q4 c$ \, T, ~
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
- ^ Z2 [5 y: f; v5 v/ j i. a, ~changing needs of the organization and community;
/ ]' g% |+ x5 a- q5 t• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 6 K% D+ n- g: \. U6 `+ l: ?
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
: u9 O! h: n. Jselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
% u! ?, j7 {. z% L) w• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
: d6 F5 t7 S: t% m( d0 P! A• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
9 a( r i: v& M: \. Aeffectively and positively represent the association; 4 y; m! m: w' y1 G

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
+ N4 ~: f# R. }. @the implementation of systems to manage these risks; 7 Z' d8 w2 ~# W
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
* |$ c0 n6 l( J6 [performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED & i7 Z: R. w' M& j( y
the forthcoming year;
j9 Z5 ~) G: l, L% D• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
. Y. a! D+ ~5 g) `( c* spractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 1 H3 n' r$ i! X2 ?/ l2 l! K
YWCA Canada; and
6 K: @ m; l. e• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. : i8 Y) P0 m" b* u$ y

Required Experience
2 n b m- F0 o+ A% [8 I K5 V• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; . b1 i7 S1 ^. C y( }/ k, a
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation % j4 L* A+ y" u$ ^' Z
abilities; ( ?+ o% E' A1 g. U9 M y
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 7 D4 [! ^7 `+ j) e
Networking and Fundraising;
/ H3 L( |* E# |/ l& f D( ?• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
$ d% f% s( W: d0 dand financial statements; and 7 j/ ^5 \8 }6 j! ]
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
