The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
; K8 Y& W$ T- J5 H, iexecution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: 7 G8 T/ k( a" D1 E. ^6 ^

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of " P! R9 t I, \: G) Y- W8 y
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 8 J1 X: H) L+ }
the Board of Directors; & _1 e) T' Y* @* H
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
/ p0 E! @/ p0 N* B% V' K! u oincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 Y7 N0 t+ u7 r! |1 A9 W7 U
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
: b- Y* P- F, H5 u j, K• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 U& Q' W" c4 j
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ( [; B( h/ z2 W; c' ^( D

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; & _6 W1 e% A7 J5 n
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ( a+ t7 c: i5 x( ^2 w
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
$ U2 ]4 D; U! \! [9 a. n8 V5 p1 |0 _• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 4 ]$ [3 w' E. {3 v5 C' V
changing needs of the organization and community; $ w2 c! X$ C. A! [2 M F
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; + _% H7 a% P" L/ f2 G
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective + x5 u# Q, l3 j6 t! M4 ^
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
( i/ q6 I3 n# y1 L; `• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
6 _4 N$ r( ^5 y7 V% |# Uthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 2 [' T; o' o8 Y% {/ E
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
. ^$ H! j) ^% u q, zperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
3 E* J$ [6 ~; T0 T& f' U7 I8 w/ ythe forthcoming year; ' _$ J T$ D7 [6 g9 Y
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
8 [: H& n$ @( q! N8 [# }/ Z7 cpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
9 i* Y0 n$ Z1 PYWCA Canada; and ' w1 D! O( w6 Y t
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ! v @2 s u! J0 N$ {7 V

Required Experience
# G# t; K3 @) z1 ` v; }5 F• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
* A1 y6 F" e3 q/ T0 w9 w' t• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 1 L' f8 ^( W+ Q1 u; L
abilities;
" {; p7 @5 q) [$ Z1 c5 b3 Z• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,

• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
