Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

% y% S; y: s5 r& S• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
; k0 o& W2 `2 o$ @* W) Y: }+ `; k$ u- Othe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by

2 }0 D% x3 T8 m( Y% i+ R• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 @( n* ^2 A: D" N# Kincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 7 h4 i( ^: F- `& {+ t9 v* Y
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 0 k, n3 t7 o, E6 Z$ b" q" _& W
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
$ A' t& g) ~# i0 i& l8 fobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
) C& n# V* A) S/ w; Jthe board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion : V3 D: o' r2 H: N. g
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; / }! w' F8 N( r4 U c. f! Z# ~
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the " }9 }! B8 C: M1 \! e
changing needs of the organization and community; 6 @' I& e' I9 _+ `( B1 B& @! I1 b& q
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + t7 {- V3 I( n5 P2 @3 h

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
6 f# N3 x& u) ]- Y6 o7 R: K• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 6 e$ P0 n( T- Y4 Z8 I1 I
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 4 P) i. m; g8 W, k
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( I Y" I3 h, A* _
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
* l8 r! G, V3 kthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; % `# C# L7 u4 C2 s0 F" ^
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal Q9 l/ X5 C! r( s
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical # t: U6 m$ h4 q& [6 [: g. ?7 _$ ]
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of & O9 R; h4 ]4 x4 ^7 T' m
YWCA Canada; and
$ g! K: g! D6 P• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
0 N: y2 l, _7 x [• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation # B$ C( ^4 Q$ U2 u7 U
abilities; & u+ P$ w- i5 i/ N
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, + q$ z6 n: B7 P$ U6 a) S* Y: D
Networking and Fundraising;
5 P' g+ b3 f" ]9 g• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
